As a Friend of the Humanities, you help keep the humanities vibrant in Lafayette through fundraisers and social events. Many of these are free to active members, but rest assured that proceeds from paid events all go back to funding our offering of grants. The more you attend, the more you support and learn about the humanities at UL.
Do not think that your support is just a drop in the bucket. As Dr. Joseph Savoie, UL Lafayette President noted in a Fall 2019 address, “During the 2008-09 fiscal year, the University received 66 percent of its revenue from the State; in 2018-19, it received 27 percent.” Private funding has by necessity risen up to meet the needs of our university, and the humanities are no exception! Friends of the Humanities helps to fill this funding gap.
Even a small amount can help a professor bring about their vision for a course, which will engage and empower students to become that much more invested in the humanities. Your membership benefits UL faculty, while you enjoy the fine offerings of our partnerships with UL Lafayette and other institutions in and around Lafayette!
